How can you read this talk and not imagine your own, "Once upon a time"? President Uchtdorf gave such a fresh look on what essentially is the Great Plan of Happiness.

It never occurred to me that I am the hero in my own story. How many times as a Young Woman did we say the Young Women's Theme as if they are just ordinary meaningless words? Or how many times as an adult serving in the YW origination did we listen to the girls say it as fast as they can and giggle, not realizing that these are promised blessings if we accept and live the values and principles of the restored Gospel?

"As an Apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ, I leave you my blessing and give you a promise that as you accept and live the values and principles of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, you will be prepared to strengthen home and family, make and keep sacred covenants, receive the ordinances of the temple, and enjoy the blessings of exaltation. And the day will come when you turn the final pages of your own glorious story; there you will read and experience the fulfillment of those blessed and wonderful words: "And they lived happily ever after."

Absolutely powerful. Great talk Kilee. Thanks for picking it.

Amy Girl, (and Emily)
Your comments truly made me think hard. You were MY young woman when you moved from California. You were my calling. As I was reading your comments, I teared, wondering if I had done that part good enough? Why hadn't I put in more spirituality? And so on...but as President Uchtdorf said, we're still in our fairy tale. And I am grateful for mine. That means I can still act more like a princess than a cartoon character. Amy, your words went straight to my soul. I loved you when you were a little one, and I love you now; I always will. I deeply appreciate how you brought your thoughts into your reflection; how you quoted the YW Theme and made us all remember those words we said every Sunday.

President Uchtdorf said, "I
understand that, at times, some may wonder why they attend Church meetings or why it is so important to read the scriptures regularly or pray to our Heavenly Father daily. Here is my answer: You do these things because they are part of God’s path for you. And that path will take you to your “happily ever after” destination. I especially want my girls to remember that remark as part of my testimony. We do things, or don't, because they are what God has asked of us. That's why.

Hello everyone,

My name is Sara and JJ recently invited me into your group. I am 29, recently married, and soon to become a mother. My days in YW are long over and I've never served as a YW leader. However, I still really connected with and quite loved this talk. Thank you for posting it as it's lead me to feel empowered in my own life's journey.

'Once upon a time' rings so clearly of earth life, as time is a unique quality to this experience. For me, the strength in this talk lies in that knowing the end of the fairy tale / personal life story makes it so much easier to endure the middle parts. The dragon is slain. The Prince recognizes this princess. All does end happily. And according to God's plan, all will end happily if we endure.

Therefore, how much easier is it to be brave and heroic?

If I had known that I would meet the man of my dreams at 29, I would have wallowed less from 24-28. Now I'm onto my next life adventure with a charge to be as faithful as I should have been before. Faith in God means confidence in the way things work out; they will work and for our best.

Thanks again for posting, I wouldn't have read this talk otherwise.

I loved this talk!!! It's a great reminder that we can have a "Happily Ever After" as long as we do our part and endure our trials well. We just have to remember that the Lord is rooting for us and with him we can do anything.
